Strictly Romantic

And just because it's still the best movie for dreamers. Your mileage may vary, but Dancing With the Stars can't hold a candle to Strictly Ballroom:

::sniff::

That guy doesn't do much for me...but that song has always had the effect of melting away whatever tough exterior I feign having.

I never saw this film, but I did see one that looks kind of similar, with Richard Gere, and think maybe Jennifer Lopez...it was awesome!

As talented as they were, somehow Astaire and Rogers never aroused these passionate feelings inside of me.

It is the best along with Dirty Dancing - no discipline like that of a dancer.

Fred and Ginger were classical art in the study of line and movement and rendering a beautiful result. Exquisite to watch.

But girls, if you wanna rev up your rpm's, watch "Tango Bar", a strange foreign film with the peerless Raul Julia. Sigh...

They were definitely exquisite, if you're into that sorta thing, but I never cared quite as much for their ballroom as I did go for stuff like this.

IMHO, that's when they were seriously at their best. I'll take taps shoes and sweat rags over feather boas any day.

Is that the one with the Pan-American dance competition and the angry gypsy father teaching them the passo double??

Oh, yes! What a fabulous send-up of the whole mania. The auzzies. Gotta love 'em.
