I can't help but think that if the folks standing on that wing had to wait for the government to come and assist, there would have been some losses to the cold water. As it was, individual boat captains made the decision to come to the rescue. By the time the Coast Guard got there it was virtually a done deal.

Now that's an example of how we should be getting out of our current economic mess. Get the government to get the heck out of the way!

Good point. The consumers have helped the economy to a scary landing without hurting anyone, but it will ultimately be the American people who rescue themselves.

I have to say that I'm pleased as all get-out that the heroic and skilled pilot has one of the single most unpronouncable names I've ever encountered inside the states. And he's a "the third." Nice! I love listening to less skilled broadcasters stumble over his polysyllabic name.
