Hitching a Ride To The White House?

It's funny, but I don't mind that Sarah Palin has spammed my email inbox. I don't mind someone asking for a lift, if I'm headed in the same direction.

And I'm definitely going her way.

Sarah's hitched her way into the national political scene by the good graces of flyover country folks. Why, with our pickup truck or 18-wheeler or family SUV, any of us would be glad to give her lift.

Say, where are you headed, Ma'am?

(More beautiful photos by Shealah Craighead, here.)

The GOP still has no idea. . .

I'm thinking they might catch a clue next Nov.

In their smugness they seem to believe that the masses turning against the Dems means that they are turning towards the GOP. Um, NO! GOP better be waking up soon, they are running out of time but quick.

I have chewed out GOP robo callers so many times the calls have actually slowed way down - I think they might have finally flagged this phone number as a no go...

Got all three of my Sarah buttons on my purse strap. Not that I'm not open to others of like mind - it is just that right now she seems to be the ONLY one out there going my way.

I am supporting any third party candidate that can tell me they are fiscal conservatives and will honor and follow the constitution as written...

Gee. Reminds me of my high school days. Back then I would have picked up a hitchhiking Sarah, gotten her high on some cheap Mexican weed and Mateus (I was too good for Boone's Farm) and hopefully had a little make-out time before I dropped her at her mama's.
Of course, that was about the time girls started ending up in shallow graves, so hitchhiking became a thing of the past.

I'm downtown with GUYK. I like her a lot, but we'll see who else shows up at the party. I've seen her speak in person, and she is in tune.

I recently got one of those "surveys" from the RNC. I'll send it back with a note explaining that the lost my confidence a while back. (As did the Democrats, about 30 years ago.)

In at least two recent local elections, the candidate they backed (one was DeDe WhazzErFace) was soundly trounced by the people's Republican candidate. Except that Hoffman has the charisma of a turnip, so the Democrat won anyway.

You're right in saying the GOP still hasn't got a clue. They brought this straight talking, straight shooting woman into the public eye in an attempt to bolster McCain's chances...and boy, oh boy did she! And despite the GOP's attempts to tweek her image and the media's attempts to pile drive her into the mud the true Sarah Palin shone through.

She learned what it's like to be on the national scene thanks to being tagged as the VP candidate, and she's not going away anytime soon. In the months and years to come her message will be heard, ruminated upon, and digested by the ordinary citizens and, hopefully, some of the insiders too.

Hers is a vision of and for America. She doesn't want to tear it down and change it so much as rebuild it by stripping away the waste and corruption bureaucracy creates. She loves America and wants to stop its destruction from within.

Thank you GOP. You got a whole lot more than you bargained for when you introduced Governor Sarah Palin to the rest of the USA.
