Political Porn Circus

The frenzy to push us all the way into the Red Column is orgiastic in its fervent and shameless deal-making. It's a circus of freaks and mawkish clowns promising something worth seeing beyond the curtained entrance into Socialism by way of the Health Care antechamber. It's not even got the apologetic naughtiness of a burlesque fan dance; it's a tawdry pole-dance-- a poll trance of vote counting, texting, sexting, money and tart talk to rival a Tiger Woods fantasy. How many dampish dollars can Obama keep throwing at his gyrating thralls? Honestly, when I think upon our so-called betters there in D.C., it looks to my mind all of a H. Bosch work of fantastical horror.

Only a 4% margin peeps. That's the number I was hearing today. 46 percent of Americans are already "socialized" in one way or another, by virtue of being paid by the government or supported by the government or working for the government. That's the only number the Conservatives should have ever paid attention to.

4% -That's the only number Obama's puppet masters are aiming for. It sure seems doable.

And after all the titillation and come-ons, well you know what comes next.

Seriously. Meanwhile I'm having an interesting look at my site meter after throwing out all those horrid search terms in my post!

Joan: You are a wordsmith of rare talent! "Gyrating thralls" conjures up such images and perfectly captures the feel of what is taking place in congress! The scene that comes to mind is that one from Fantasia, where the demons are dancing to Night on Bald Mountain.

Brilliantly entertaining read - but not really that scary as I don't agree, nothing wrong with looking after those less fortunate than yourself - but you have a fab way with words.

By way of reconciliation - and in the spirit of nothing will cheer you up more than hearing about a country worse off than your own... take a look at my own; the UK government is now responsible for 52% of the spending in our economy. Now THAT'S scary!

Oh hey, Phil! Thanks for your comment and your assumptions. I never get tired of assumptions!

That government school system did you proud, too! And the atheistic morals that deem it proper to rob from one to give to another afforded your country so much safety and dignity that we won't worry too much next time the Huns come knocking on your door. After all, they wouldn't come knocking if they really weren't in need, right?

Eh, don't grind your crooked little teeth too hard about what an idiot like me would think.

Joan, I apologise. I was expressing an opinion and would never deem to assume anything about someone I don't know - and try not to about those I do! I really enjoy reading your blog - the jokey comment (on hearing about another country worse off - my own) was obviously a complete failure.

I was trying to say that even though I disagreed you are entertaining to read as you write with such verve.

I'm not entirely sure what to make of the rest of your comment. Presumably my use of the English language isn't up to scratch and
I'm guessing the Huns reference is to World War 2? If so I can only say I am grateful for the sacrifice the U.S. made towards ensuring a free Europe (from the Nazis and the Communists!) but could I also point out that for Britain the war stretched from 1939 to 1945.

The atheistic comment however seems a little odd given that in the UK the church and state are inextricably linked by law. In this respect the US is much more enlightened, guaranteeing (in theory at least) a separation of religion and state through the first amendment.

The "crooked little teeth" comment however is unfortunately spot on. Ouch.

I remain genuinely sorry for any offence I may have caused.

I'm so tempted to sport with you in a thousand wordy ways, Phil. Your compliments I accept graciously with my thanks for your proper adulation. Your political outlook, as I shall now assume to be Socialistic, can rot with you in Hell or Eastbourne, whichever comes first.

Your Socialism has ruined your sense of irony. And note: "Huns" as a metaphor for those who want to take by force what you have. Like, oh, say. . . your very nation. Which, btw, regardless of its past affiliation with Anglicanism, has embraced atheism as its unofficial national religion. Tell me I'm wrong. Or don't. I don't care.

See my previous post a few days ago on how the flattened landscape of Socialism ruins comedy; it destroys irony by making it ubiquitous. All that's left is silly walks and wankers.

But you amuse us, and so shall you live to see another day!

:o)

Thanks Joan, that's... swell? You are indeed the King (Queen?) of comedy; calling me a socialist is both funny and insulting!

I remain your humble and obedient servant - but you ARE wrong about the atheism...

Oh Phil, you really are pretty adorable, even if you did piss me off at first. I must relent and stop tormenting you, for you seem to be genuine. One can never be too careful when a stranger comes into the home of mourners trying to cheer them up by disagreeing with them.

Let's call it Pax. I'm sorry for calling you a Socialist, although I'm still not quite clear on your politics, but no matter. Your blog really is very enjoyable, btw.
